Moyamba Report by David Duckett

HIS NAME IS DAVID DUCKETT - HE IS SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD - HE WAS A GREAT BLESSING TO ME ON THE TRIP TO AFRICA. - ALVIN SMITH

david-duckett-into-africaOn behalf of me and my family I would like to thank Into-Africa and Pastor Smith for allowing me to accompany them on a trip to Sierra Leone. This has been amazing as I was able to see first-hand how everywhere isn’t America. I know that this may be a common cliché, but all the more real to me as life in Africa was completely different. Without going on and on about how certain people didn’t have certain things or focusing on all the lack that was evident, I want to really just expound upon the beauty of Africa. These people really loved Jesus. The people were all about others no matter what the difference or origin. Even on another side of the earth people gave God all the glory and anticipated being in His presence. So many times have I personally settled for the least or not given my all in an event or even to God and repeatedly come up empty or short. I’ve given my all to any and everything but God, and always wondered why there seemed to be no hope or answer to my questions. I say this because of how one key thing that I saw in these people was a surrendered heart. To see a school child or an average person smile made my day as there was beauty that went beyond a face. My experience there is one that I would suggest or recommend for any and all. One thing that meant the most to me was a simple phrase that hit core as Pastor Smith said, “Someone’s got to do it.” Someone has to be the “one” that will completely surrender to the will of God and do what he’s called us all to do. This trip brought me to a place of surrender and challenge as my world truthfully seemed to have been halted. A pure wake-up call was what it was. I love and care about people and I believe that God will continue to enlarge my heart for people, but all I know now is that my view of not only life in America has changed, but my view of people and God. So much took place in that one week and because of this trip there has been evident change in my life. If could sum up this trip in two words it would be: Beautiful and Powerful. I gave my all and God helped me through. I was able to minister on the streets and even in the church through music. As soon I get the chance I will go back. But as of now I want to once again thank Pastor Smith and Into-Africa for allowing me to a part of what God is doing in West Africa. God Bless and see you all soon. Thank You.

Sincerely,

David Duckett
