Water Is Life

Blood Fluke Everyday Issue

typical-african-water-well-before-into-africa.orgMany snails in tropical regions are infected with Schistosomiasis (a parasite that is transmitted from snails to humans). It’s a blood fluke that lives as worms in the human host. It can penetrate through unbroken skin. You just have to get splashed by water containing cercariae in order to become infected.

There are drugs that will kill the schistosome in the human, but reinfection is almost inevitable. As soon as people make contact with the water again, within days they could have more parasites.

The parasites will flow through the bloodstream and collect at the liver, to consume the tissue. Millions of people are clinging to life due to the aggressive nature of these parasites. Parasites contracted, not only from drinking, but merely coming into contact with unsafe water.

You can bring security to an entire village when you provide clean drinking water ($50), you can change in the future of our world placing a chalkboard in front of a seven year old African student ($10), you can purchase a share of the school building ($50), or you can donate any amount toward funding a Medical Mission Team on the ground, the opportunities are endless. There is nothing in the world like the satisfaction you will receive by providing, the perfect solution to the problem.
